General info

Hello everyone,

In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of creating 3D models using polygonal modeling techniques. Video lectures will walk you through the various production techniques for creating both simple and complex forms.
Special note: 5 week individual training workshop is now closed, but video courses will still be available.

Student Spotlight / Brian Sellors

“I recently finished my first full character project. I started this robot about a month ago, right after I had finished Mario’s 3D workshop.

Mario helped me pick out a design and then I went through the same steps as in the workshop, but on my own.  Before starting the workshop, I had no real training in Cinema 4d other than the free content on Mario’s tutorial page.

Watching videos and tutorials only take you so far and what I really wanted was someone to review my work in a critical way and explain what I was doing wrong. I guess that is the main problem with tutorials; when it comes to creating your own work, it is hard to know when you make a mistake.

I really appreciated Mario’s systematic way of teaching modeling: starting with solving meshes, building kitbash assets, blockout and refinement. I think that going through this process in its entirety is really what helped me understand all the problems, or puzzles that we face as modelers.

Having finished this first character I already feel like I would do things differently, but it is only by going through this process that I see where I could improve.”

You will learn...
  • What is topology in theory and practice.
  • How to handle edges and their behavior flows in SubD modeling.
  • How to handle and avoid common mistakes like pinching and distorsions in meshes.

Common Questions
How can I benefit from this workshop?

If you´re interested in a more guided way of learning where every step of the way you are receiving feedback on your progress, with tips and tricks specific to your questions and workflow, then this workshop would be for you.

Are there possibilities for group training (more than one person in the same group)?

Yes, there are. Feel free to use the contact form below to get more information on prices for a group training.

Why do we need to complete assignments?

Weekly assignments are there only for you, to see and test your mesh problem-solving abilities. If you feel you´re struggling with a current assignment, we have a Discord group where we can solve problems together. That way everyone gets instant feedback on current progress.

Do I need to have any basic knowledge of 3D modeling?

It is a plus to understand some basics. In this workshop we will focus more on 3D modeling production techniques and principles, and focus less on explaining the general modeling tools in Cinema 4D. Some tools will be covered however.

What is the difference between tutorial and this workshop?

This workshop involves personalized 1 on 1training. The main difference is that when you are working on a video tutorial no one will tell you what you are doing wrong and you risk learning with some bad habits.

Another significant difference is that a tutorial gets you to complete a specific project while the workshop is trying to teach you the skills you will need for any project.

How long do I have access to the workshop training?

There is no expiring on video content. However, 1 on 1 feedback and assignment reviews is only available only during the 5 week workshop period, which will last 5 weeks.
